Films: Shrek (1-3)

Shrek 1

5/5

This story is simply brilliant. The way in which it takes fairy tales and twists them to give rise to a real hooliganism is most original. It manages to turn practically everything around, even when you have already seen it, you find some detail that had been overlooked. The characters are fantastic and it’s very funny at various points, although without being superficial at any time, in addition to having very well done graphics, so I recommend it to anyone.

Shrek 2

5/5

This film manages to maintain the essence of its predecessor: it loads different molds of fairy tales in a very original and fun way, with countless references and all kinds of unique elements. Also, the new characters, especially Puss in Boots (whose own movie, by the way, seems like a disaster to me; I’ll review it later), are a real hoot. Both this and the first I have seen several times and I do not get tired.

Shrek 3

Clear example of what happens when creativity around a franchise is exhausted but you want to take advantage of it: that what was great before loses its grace by repeating the same formulas and trying to force things in the worst possible way. It has a plot hole since the situation of the villains is raised and everything related to Arturo is so boring. In short: too much. Very much.
